Sometimes we forget the meaning of life because the world is going so fast around us. We become very self-centered and materialistic such that we forget to give something and not expect something in return. I sometimes sit with an elderly couple and they were telling me of this lady who was interviewed for the job of sitting with them. The first day of sitting with them, she pulls out her laptop and started playing games on the computer. And then she wanted to do something else on the computer and it would not allow her, so she asked to use their computer.
When these people refused to let her use their computer, she asked to go and smoke. One of the elderly couple uses oxygen since she has a heart broblem. During interview, this lady did not disclose that she was a smoker, she evaded to answer that question when she was asked. What i am failing to understand is that was she not supposed to just sit with them and have a conversation. In my opinion, i think that is giving your time. A simple conversation just to acknowledge the presence of people around you. I believe that humans are not islands. We are interdependend on each other. Having relationships with others is very fulfilling. I know that sometimes experiences that poeple go through tend to direct our behaviors. I do not know what this lady went through but i just want to remind myself that it pays more to give than to receive. Maybe i am being too serious, but can someone help me understand this?

Things Happen
I wrote a blog about 2 or so days ago and now i'm trying to look for it and cannot find it. I talked about incidents happening leaving are so mad such that we cannot even function. Bad things happen all the time and what is important is how you take it from there. It is not healthy to be going around carrying all the hurt on your shoulders. Just look for something good out of it and carry on as usual. I know it is easier said than done but for your own sake do it.
Recently i learned of this lady who had polio in her early years of life. What is so touching about her is that she did not concentrate on her situation. She found ways to help those who were in worser situations than herself. And she was able to find fulfilment in that. I just thought that is a better way to redirect our energy if faced with something devastating in life. I hope to remember this when i find myself in this predicament.

My husband and myself finds ourselves in Walmat the other day. Suddenly this guy comes to us asking where we are from? We told him and then he started talking about himslef. He is from Liberia and he got married to a lady from one of these small islands, i do not remember which one. He said him and the wife were watching t.v. about wild life in Africa. So the wife will be like "honey so do you have all these animals in Liberia?" And then the husband answers no honey, we only have these very poisinous snakes that will take your life in less 10 minutes of being bitten. He says, "I know I am not supposed to lie but i do not want to find myself in Africa before the week comes to an end. This was a joke. I laughed but later i started thinking, do men do this to their wives? We went in Walmart intending to get just a few things but on our way out we found ourselves with a full trolley.
